5G Physical layer design demo
We may be seeing the first 5G networks come into being, but some 5G NR features are still very much in test development. One example would be managing beam tracking in mmWave bands to mobile (ie not fixed) devices.
In this video Fred Schreider, Director of Engineering, Interdigital, explains how the company is testing beam management from a 28GHz antenna via a 5G NR modem to a rotating receiving device. The system manages beam tracking to the device as the receiving antenna rotates. The platform will be used to support city-scale testbed activities in the USA, under the Platform for Advanced Wireless Research (PAWR).
