Flexible, modular, software RAN

With demand for flexible, use-case specific radio systems on the rise, Software Radio System is backing its modular, open software radio for more growth.

Software Radio Systems is a developer of open radio software that can be tailored for deployment in a number of customised environments. Recently it has announced integrations with several RU vendors, and has ongoing deployments in a range of private, public safety, defence and satellite networks.

Already very successful in ground-to-air comms, and with an ongoing engagement with AST Space Mobile, CEO Paul Sutton is aiming for more, with the company having just launched a full stack 5G NTN solution.

“It starts with the fact that we build everything from scratch ourselves,” Sutton says, meaning the company has designed in a level of modularity that means it can flexibly deploy on a number or archictectures and environments.

So who should be showing interest in SRS?

“Anybody who is targeting private 5G with specific use case requirements. If there are particular hardware requirements that are only suitable for that particular use case, we can guarantee that our software will run on it,” Sutton says.
