The Mobile Network began as a vision - that it was possible to write about and understand the mobile network technology market in a different way. Our aim was to develop content and editorial that focussed on the companies that develop the technology to plan, design, build, monitor, assure, control and operate mobile networks. What if we could write about who does what, what the technology achieves, and relate that to what other companies are doing? What if instead of following just the usual few names, we made sense of the wide and deep variety of companies active in the market, and explained how they connect to each other. We would try to do this in a way that made sense to those working across the network, spreading understanding across, and making connections between, the domains of activity within the network.
We called this guiding concept, "Making sense of the World's Mobile Networks" and that is what we endeavour to achieve, whether in print in our quarterly magazine, eBooks and Market Updates, or through our Mapping The Mobile Network project, or through our newsletters or on the website. We hit upon the right moment, as network architectures both flattened and grew in complexity, the importance of making connections between network layers and domains is paramount. You can only see this increasing as the telco cloud and virtualisation increase the speed of change. Since our launch in February 2013 we have been grateful for the great support we have received from our readership and partners, and continue to build upon the original vision, to make sense of the world's mobile networks and the companies.
